Seat and Lumbar Support Cushions for Office, Car and Home

Long hours in an office chair, a car seat or a wheelchair can leave your lower back and tailbone feeling tired and sore. The right cushion is designed to change how you sit by adding support where your body needs it, so everyday sitting feels more comfortable.

Dr. Franklyn's is a Brooklyn, New York family business with more than 25 years of experience in health, wellness, orthopedic support and rehabilitation products. We choose comfort products around what patients and providers actually need, and every product page lists sizes and details so you can check the fit before you order.

Types of Support Cushions

Cushions do different jobs. Choose based on where you need support:

• Lumbar support cushion: sits at the curve of your lower back to help you stay upright in a chair or car seat

• Seat cushion: raises and cushions the seat itself, often with a contoured shape

• Back and seat combination: supports your lower back and your seat in one piece

• Neck and back support roll: a rounded roll for the neck or small of the back

• Foam mattress topper: adds a softer, contoured surface on top of a mattress

Lumbar Support Cushion

A lumbar support cushion fills the gap between your lower back and the chair, which is designed to encourage a more natural, upright posture. The Ergonomic Lumbar Support Cushion is made for the office, car, wheelchair and home. For support in the back and the seat together, see the Ergonomic Back & Seat Cushion, which has a breathable bubble design.

Memory Foam Seat Cushion

A memory foam seat cushion softens to your shape as you sit and spreads your weight over a wider area, so no single spot takes all the pressure. The Ergonomic Memory Foam Seat Cushion is designed for the office, car and wheelchair.

Orthopedic Seat Cushion

An orthopedic seat cushion has a contoured, ergonomic shape designed to support sitting posture and keep your weight evenly balanced. Look for a firm enough base that does not flatten quickly, a shape that fits your chair, and a cover you can remove and clean.

Tailbone Pain Cushion

A tailbone pain cushion is designed to take pressure off the tailbone area while you sit, often with a cutout or contoured rear. It may help you sit more comfortably, but it does not diagnose or treat the cause of tailbone pain, so see a clinician if pain is severe, follows a fall or does not settle.

Pressure Relief Cushion and Mattress Topper

A pressure relief cushion is designed to spread body weight and ease pressure on contact points for comfort. The Egg Crate Foam Mattress Pad (Twin) adds a contoured foam surface to a mattress for back, hip and joint comfort. These products are not designed to prevent or treat pressure injuries. If you or someone you care for is at risk, ask a clinician about the right surface.

Round Cervical Support Roll

The Round Cervical Support Roll is a memory foam roll for neck and back support that can also be used in other ways.

What to Look For in a Support Cushion

• Firm, supportive foam: that does not flatten after a few weeks

• Shape that fits your chair: measure your seat width and depth

• Non-slip base or straps: so it stays in place

• Breathable, washable cover: for comfort and easy cleaning

• Portability: easy to carry between the office, car and home

Getting the Right Fit

A cushion that is too big or too small shifts and loses its benefit. Before ordering:

  • Measure the width and depth of the seat where you will use it, including wheelchair seats
  • Compare your measurements with the dimensions on the product page
  • Place a lumbar cushion at the curve of your lower back, and sit all the way back in the chair
  • If you share the cushion between a car and a chair, check that it is easy to move

Support That Works Together

A cushion works best with the right support around it. For firmer lower back support during work or travel, see our back braces. For muscle comfort after a long day, explore our heating pads and infrared and light therapy products, designed to support comfort and recovery. If neck tension travels with desk work, browse our neck and shoulder supports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where should I place a lumbar support cushion?

Place it at the curve of your lower back, about at belt level, and sit all the way back in the chair so the cushion sits between your back and the seat. Adjust the height until it feels supportive without pushing you forward.

How is a memory foam seat cushion different from a standard cushion?

Memory foam softens to your shape and spreads your weight over a wider area, while a standard cushion can flatten or feel uneven. Check the foam quality and cover on the product page.

Can a tailbone pain cushion help?

A tailbone pain cushion is designed to take pressure off the tailbone area while you sit, and may help you feel more comfortable. It does not treat the cause, so see a clinician if the pain is severe, follows a fall or continues.

Do you offer wholesale pricing on cushions?

Yes. Medical-supply stores, pharmacies, physical therapists, chiropractors, rehabilitation centers and orthopedic practices can apply for a wholesale or professional account. Pricing is quantity-based and confirmed individually after a business review.

What warranty and return options do you offer?

Dr. Franklyn's products carry warranty coverage of up to 1 year, with terms listed on each product page. Eligible unused items can be returned within 30 days of delivery in their original packaging. Medical and personal-use products may not be returnable once opened. Email support@drfranklyns.com to start a return.
