Knee Braces for Stability, Comfort and Recovery

Knee discomfort shows up on stairs, on a walk, or in the middle of the night. A knee brace is designed to steady the joint, add warmth and compression, and help you stay active during recovery. The wrong one slides down your leg or does too little.

Dr. Franklyn's is a Brooklyn, New York family business with more than 25 years of experience in orthopedic support and rehabilitation products. Our knee braces cover three needs: stability, compression and recovery support. Every product page lists sizes and details so you can match the brace to your situation.

Types of Knee Braces

Knee braces do not all work the same way. Choose based on what you need the knee to do:

• Hinged support: side hinges are designed to add stability at the sides of the knee

• Compression: gentle pressure that keeps the knee warm and supported

• Adjustable fit: straps and closures let you fine-tune the fit as swelling or activity changes

• Range-of-motion control: adjustable settings for use during recovery, as directed by your clinician

• Slim profile: sits under everyday clothing

Hinged Knee Brace

A hinged knee brace adds side support that a basic sleeve cannot. The Dr. Franklyn's Hinged Knee Brace is an adjustable knee brace for active use.

Post-Op Knee Brace with Adjustable ROM

The Post-Op Knee Brace is a hinged brace with adjustable range of motion, for use during post-operative recovery. Settings should always follow the instructions of your surgeon or physical therapist.

Knee Compression Brace

A knee compression brace is a light option for everyday comfort. The Elite Knee Compression Sleeve is a pull-on sleeve in sizes M and L. Compression sleeves give lighter support than a hinged brace, so choose a hinged brace if you want added side support.

Knee Brace for Pain Relief and Arthritis Support

If you are looking for a knee brace for pain relief, think about comfort first. A compression sleeve is intended for temporary relief of everyday discomfort, since it keeps the joint warm and gently supported during walking and daily tasks. For knee support for arthritis, many people choose a sleeve for comfort and a hinged brace when the knee feels less stable. A brace may help you feel supported, but it does not diagnose or treat a condition, so check with your doctor about arthritis or ongoing pain.

Your Knees Work as Part of a Chain

Hips, ankles and your back all change how the knee takes load. If your ankle rolls or your lower back is sore, your knee can end up compensating. Explore our ankle and calf supports and back braces for the supports around the knee. After a long day on your feet, our pneumatic compression, cold therapy and heating pad products are designed to support comfort and recovery.

Getting the Right Fit

A brace that is too small can cut into the skin, and a loose one slides down. To size a knee brace:

  • Measure your leg as the product's size chart asks, usually around the thigh above the kneecap, across the middle of the kneecap and below it
  • Compare your numbers with that product's size chart, because sizing differs between sleeves and hinged braces
  • If you are between sizes, check the product notes or contact us before ordering
  • Put the brace on over bare skin or a thin layer, and check that it feels snug, not tight

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hinged knee brace used for?

A hinged knee brace is designed to add support at the sides of the knee. It is often chosen for active use and during recovery, as directed by a clinician.

Is a knee compression brace good for arthritis?

Many people find compression comfortable because it adds warmth and gentle support. It is intended for temporary relief of discomfort and does not treat arthritis, so check with your doctor about a full plan.

How do I choose the right size adjustable knee brace?

Measure your leg as shown on the product's size chart, usually above, across and below the kneecap, and compare it with that chart. Sizes vary between products, so check each one.

Can therapists and clinics order knee braces in bulk?

Yes. Physical therapists, chiropractors, orthopedic practices and medical-supply stores can apply for a wholesale or professional account. Pricing is quantity-based and confirmed individually after a business review.

What warranty and return options do you offer?

Dr. Franklyn's products carry warranty coverage of up to 1 year, with terms listed on each product page. Eligible unused items can be returned within 30 days of delivery in their original packaging. Medical and personal-use products may not be returnable once opened. Email support@drfranklyns.com to start a return.
