Walkers for Adults: Stable Support for Everyday Mobility

A good walker gives you a wide, steady base to stand, turn and walk with more confidence. Dr. Franklyn's is a Brooklyn, New York family business with more than 25 years of experience in orthopedic support, rehabilitation and home therapy products, and we choose mobility aids around what patients, caregivers and providers actually need: practical, adjustable and easy to use.

Every product page lists sizing details and instructions, so you can check the fit before you order. If you have a question, our team in Brooklyn is a phone call away.

Standard Walker, Lightweight Walker or Walker with Wheels?

These three terms describe different designs, and mixing them up is a common reason people choose the wrong frame.

• Standard walker: a four-legged frame that you lift and set down with each step. It offers the most stability and suits people who need to put real weight through their hands.

• Lightweight walker: a frame built from lighter materials, so it is easier to lift, load into a car and carry up steps. Always check the weight capacity on the product page.

• Walker with wheels: wheels let the frame glide instead of being lifted, which suits people who walk steadily but find lifting tiring. Wheeled frames with hand brakes and a seat are called rollators, and you can browse them on our rollators.

Not sure which one fits? A physical therapist or doctor can advise how much weight you should put through the frame.

Dr. Franklyn's Rise-Up Walker

The Rise-Up Walker is an adjustable stand-up walker for adults and seniors with dual handles, designed to double as a toilet safety frame.

Adjustable Curved-Handle Walking Cane

If you want lighter balance support instead of a full frame, the Adjustable Curved Handle Walking Cane is a lightweight metal cane with an adjustable height.

What to Look For in a Walker

• Height adjustment: handles should be set to your height, not the other way round

• Weight capacity: always check the limit on the product page

• Frame weight: matters if you lift it, store it or travel with it

• Grips: soft, non-slip handles help reduce hand fatigue

• Where you will use it: indoors on hard floors, outdoors, or around the bathroom

• Storage: think about car trunks, narrow hallways and doorways

Getting the Right Height

A walker that is too tall or too short can strain your shoulders and wrists. To check the height:

  • Stand upright in your normal walking shoes with your arms relaxed at your sides
  • The top of the handgrip should line up with the crease of your wrist
  • With your hands on the grips, your elbows should bend slightly, roughly 15 to 30 degrees

If you are between settings, ask a clinician, and always follow the instructions that come with the product.

Complete Your Mobility Setup

A walker works best in a home that supports it. Pair it with bath safety products for the bathroom and a supportive cushion for long periods of sitting. For comfort at home after a busy day, explore our heating pads and compression therapy products, designed to support comfort and recovery. If knee or back discomfort is part of the picture, browse our knee braces and back braces.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a standard walker and a walker with wheels?

A standard walker has four fixed legs and is lifted with each step, which gives maximum stability. A walker with wheels glides forward, so you lift less, but it asks for steadier balance. Wheeled frames with hand brakes and a seat are called rollators.

Is a lightweight walker as sturdy as a standard walker?

It can be, but check the weight capacity and frame details on the product page. A lighter frame is easier to carry, while a standard frame may suit you better if you put a lot of weight through the handles.

How do I choose the right size of walkers for adults online?

Stand upright in your usual shoes with relaxed arms. The handgrips should sit at your wrist crease, leaving a slight bend in your elbows. Adjust the legs to match and follow the product instructions.

Do you offer wholesale pricing on walkers?

Yes. Medical-supply stores, pharmacies, therapists and rehabilitation practices can apply for a wholesale or professional account. Pricing is quantity-based and confirmed individually after a business review.

What warranty and return options do you offer?

Dr. Franklyn's products carry warranty coverage of up to 1 year, with terms listed on each product page. Eligible unused items can be returned within 30 days of delivery in their original packaging. Some personal-use or opened products may not be returnable. Email support@drfranklyns.com to start a return.
